American fashion designer Vince Camuto got his start in the industry in the 1960s. Together with his business partner Jack Fisher, he founded the Nine West brand and grew it into a multimillion-dollar company before it was sold in 1999. Striking out on his own, he founded the Camuto Group in 2001 to provide design and manufacturing services to major department stores and private retailers around the world. The Camuto Group launched its signature Vince Camuto line in 2005. Originally a footwear brand, the division has branched out into luxury clothing and accessories for men and women.
Though Vince Camuto unfortunately passed away in early 2015, both his legacy and the companies he founded live on. Vince's widow, Louise Camuto, continues to serve as the Camuto Group's creative director. The Vince Camuto brand has inspired several offshoots, including VC Signature, Louise et Cie, and Two by Vince Camuto. The company's products are available at specialty stores in major markets across the country, and many styles can also be found at upscale department stores like Nordstrom.
Footwear originally served as the cornerstone on which the Vince Camuto brand was built, and shoes continue to play a major role in the company's success today. Fashion is the foremost consideration put into the line's designs, and its shoes are built to make a statement. You'll find boots, booties, pumps, wedges, sandals, and ballet flats in a number of different styles. Shoes range from relatively traditional options to more unorthodox designs. Women's clothing finds a niche that is a step above regular casualwear. Tops include options like graphic tees, tanks, and sweatshirts, but these garments exude an air of class and sophistication that matches up with the rest of the brand image. Other tops are decidedly more formal, and you'll find blouses, sweaters, cardigans, vests, and more.
Vince Camuto dresses range from casual maxi dresses and fit-and-flare options to cosmopolitan sheath dresses and shift dresses that are perfect for formal events. Skirts similarly run the gamut and include everyday wear in addition to garments that you might wear to work. The brand doesn't put much of a focus on pants, but its relatively small selection features unconventional, fashion-forward styles. Jackets meld form and function. They are undoubtedly built to keep you warm, but they are also designed to complement your complete outfit. Beyond apparel, Vince Camuto features accessories like sunglasses, hats, scarves, gloves, belts, watches, and jewelry. You can also choose among fashionable handbags, clutches, backpacks, wallets, and more.
After selling Nine West, Vince Camuto brought many of his same business philosophies to his eponymous brand. He intended to bring runway styles to consumers who could never afford the absurd prices charged by luxury design houses, and he wanted to open up high fashion to a wider market. While prices still aren't cheap, Vince Camuto clothes are certainly much more attainable for middle-class women than its competitors. Before his recent death, Vince Camuto was famous for being the consummate family man who supported a number of important charitable causes, and his company was built on these admirable qualities. The Camuto Group continues to be known for its unwavering commitment to quality and consistency as it distributes products around the world. We give Vince Camuto 4.5 stars out of 5.
