In 2005, mother-of-two Denise DeMarchis founded the girls' clothing company Matilda Jane Clothing. A decorative artist herself, DeMarchis had experience coming up with playful and expressive designs, so her venture into fashion seemed like the perfect next step. The foundations behind Matilda Jane Clothing's styles have remained unchanged over the last decade, even as the fashions continue evolving with the latest trends. Pieces are colorful and sophisticated while still being youthful and whimsical. Their textures and patterns are designed to capture the spirit of childhood for all the girls who put them on.

For many years, DeMarchis devoted her time to selling her clothes at art fairs all around the Midwest, but the company began to get so popular that she soon had to expand. Matilda Jane Clothing transitioned into a "Trunk Keeper" distribution model, which allowed it to maintain its connection with local dealers. Individual women with a passion for the Matilda Jane styles are chosen to become brand ambassadors, and they host in-home Trunk Shows where they can sell the latest clothes. Today, there are more than 400 Trunk Keepers scattered across the U.S. and Canada. Having such a global network of partners has also allowed Matilda Jane Clothing to connect with various charitable organizations around the world. From building homes locally with Habitat for Humanity to assisting the Mighty Acorn Foundation in building an orphanage in Kenya, the company's "Spread the Love" initiative has led to many exciting developments.

Twice a year, Matilda Jane Clothing releases new lines of clothing for girls aged 12 months to 12 years. Popular items include dresses, tees, cardigans, skirts, leggings, tanks, tights, and more. You can also find accessories like socks, hats, and even blankets. All the collections are based around a theme--recent examples have included small-town Michigan and a local parade. Matilda Jane then comes up with a color palette and different unique patterns to print on its clothes as well as including quirky and fun design elements like frills, ruffles, and fringe.

Recently, after a flurry of demand, Matilda Jane Clothing has also started releasing collections for moms who love the look of the company's products on their daughters.
