An exclusive brand of toys and apparel manufactured for distribution at Walmart stores, Kid Connection products are built to last. Walmart founder, Sam Walton, got his start working for JCPenney before opening his own branch of the Ben Franklin Stores retail group. Walton came up with the idea of accepting lower profit margins to try to increase sales volume, which was a relatively innovative idea at the time. Deciding to branch out on his own, he opened the first Walmart Discount City store in Arkansas in 1962. Within just a few years, the new venture had gotten so popular that Walton expanded into other markets beyond his home state.

In 1990, Walmart outsold its major rivals to become the largest retailer in the country by revenue. This milestone coincided with opening its first stores on the West Coast and in the Northeast so that its presence truly spanned the entire country. The business has also gone global and is currently the largest company on Earth. Unlike many other large corporations, Walmart continues to be family-owned, and the Waltons maintain more than a 50-percent stake. Today, there are more than 11,000 locations around the world, operating under 55 different mastheads in 27 countries. Walmart sells major name brand goods in addition to its own house lines like Kid Connection.

The Kid Connection apparel line is relatively limited and includes mostly basic items for babies and toddlers. You'll find options like tanks, jumpers, tunics, dresses, and leggings for girls, as well as polos, tees, and jackets for boys. Footwear is another popular component and includes sneakers, boots, and sandals for both genders.

Kid Connection toys are available in abundance, and the options mostly consist of relatively generic versions of popular playthings. You'll find a wide array of die-cast cars and other toy vehicles that can be raced around tracks. Dolls are some of the top toys for pretend play, and they are sold with various accessories that allow little ones to use their imaginations. Another fun option is building blocks that give tots the opportunity to build complex structures and help develop hand-eye coordination and spatial reasoning. Since these toys don't relate to specific licensed properties, they won't necessarily be linked to the franchises or characters your child is used to, but they give kids the opportunity to invent new storylines to accompany the products.

Though the brand doesn't offer much in the way of thrills, Kid Connection offers a number of classic styles in terms of both apparel and toys. The clothing line is relatively plain, but the garments are made to stand up to your child's active lifestyle. The main advantage to purchasing Kid Connection toys instead of the name brands that these playthings are modeled after is the price. You might find that you can give your little one multiple Kid Connection dolls for the same price as one Barbie, for instance. While some children are likely to notice the difference in quality, others will simply be glad to have the toy and will only use it for a limited time regardless.
