Just My Size is one of several brands owned by Hanesbrands, Inc., and it specifically manufactures plus-sized intimates and other apparel. Brothers John Wesley and P.H. Hanes founded two separate businesses in the early 1900s--both focusing on clothing manufacture. John Wesley Hanes established Shamrock Knitting Mills in 1901 (later renamed Hanes Hosiery), and his brother created the P.H. Hanes Knitting Company that same year. After operating separately for several decades, the two businesses finally merged in 1965. During the 1970s, Hanes' plain t-shirts gained popularity among screenprinters, and the brand started to garner a national reputation because it was used for so many graphic tees.

Hanes continued to grow throughout the rest of the 20th century, and its parent, the Sara Lee Corporation, decided to spin off Hanesbrands, Inc., as its own company in 2006. In addition to Just My Size, Hanesbrands manufactures several other sub-brands, including Champion, Bali, Leggs, Playtex, and more. The business has specifically catered to plus-sized women for many years, and Just My Size is considered one of Hanesbrands' primary brands in the categories of innerwear and activewear. Today, the company is headquartered in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and it sells its apparel in more than 40 countries across the globe.
