A line of clothing, accessories, and home décor for women, INC International is available exclusively from Macy's. The private label was established in 1985. Rowland Hussey Macy had a number of failed attempts in the retail industry before he moved to New York City and opened R.H. Macy and Co.--a relatively modest dry goods store--in 1858. After decades of slow but steady growth, Macy's moved several blocks uptown to its location in Herald Square and officially began attracting shoppers from across the globe. By 1924, Macy's had expanded to fill an entire square block and was officially the world's largest store. That same year, employees organized the first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and began a tradition that continues to this day.

Macy's began to expand beyond New York by acquiring a few large department stores in big Midwestern cities. It wasn't until 1945 that the first Macy's opened in San Francisco and the company officially established its presence coast to coast. Not much changed over the next several decades, as Macy's continued to maintain its stores mostly in major metropolitan areas. In the 1990s, however, the company began a string of mergers and acquisitions that would help its stores infiltrate smaller markets. Today, there are more than 850 Macy's stores across the country and the retailer caters to basically every major geographic area. Private brands like INC International are sold alongside major name brands in Macy's stores and online.

Products

With the INC International brand, Macy's provides runway-inspired, fashion-forward designs for women. Modern tops feature twists like unique patters, bright colors, contemporary graphics, and stylish fabrics. Options include blouses, tunics, tanks, v-necks, layered tops, surplice tops, and more. Cardigans, sweaters, shrugs, and wraps feature interesting design choices like keyhole cutouts, sheer stripes, ombre coloring, and other details that set them apart from the average brand. Pants are better suited for a casual affair or a night on the town than they are for wearing to work. Jeans are available in a number of colors, washes, and cuts, while the line also features gaucho pants, printed pants, jumpsuits, and more. INC International skirts and dresses are notable for their bold prints and pops of color that make them anything but boring.

Beyond regular apparel, you'll also find a number of specialty items from INC International. Options include outerwear for all different types of weather as well as swimwear that is much more modest than most other brands. Boots, sandals, heels, and flats make up the relatively wide selection of footwear. Accessories include jewelry, handbags, wallets, belts, and more. The brand also specializes in home décor that caters to women and features bedding and bath accessories.

Swap.com's Rating of I.N.C.

Depending on your particular taste, you might love the slightly offbeat vibe of INC International, or you may decide that its garments are too quirky. The brand's clothes actually run the gamut in terms of their boldness, so even more conservative dressers will likely find at least some options they appreciate. Macy's has a longstanding history for investing in its private brands and making sure they maintain excellent quality. INC International is actually one of the oldest house labels that is still offered today, so you can be sure that the clothes are designed for both comfort and durability. All things considered, we give INC International 4 out of 5 stars.
