In 1981, brothers Maurice and Paul Marciano immigrated to the United States from the south of France and settled in Los Angeles. Using their European design sensibilities, the pair formed the Guess brand and designed several innovative styles of jeans that they sold in their Beverly Hills boutique. Department stores like Bloomingdales quickly caught on to the popularity of Guess and began selling these upscale designer jeans.

Within a few years, Guess had expanded beyond its original women's line to create clothes for men as well as a line of apparel for babies. After suffering some bad press in the '90s for allegedly using sweatshop labor, Guess revamped its brand and rose to even greater prominence in the early 2000s. The company has continued to diversify and create new lines like G by Guess, Guess for Men, and Guess for Women. Baby Guess was transitioned into Guess Kids, and it manufactures clothes for little ones of all ages. The Guess brand is truly a global endeavor. With over 500 locations around the world, the company has a presence in more than 80 different countries.

Guess Kids divides its product line into several categories, including baby girl, baby boy, girl, boy, and shoes. The baby clothes are divided into styles for infants (sizes 0-9M) and toddlers (sizes 12-24M). For baby girls, you'll find options like layette sets, onesies, leggings, sweaters, dresses, rompers, jeans, bloomers, logo tees, tanks, and more. Guess Kids certainly channels its parent brand with its styles, and the resulting clothes will satisfy certain tastes more than others. While the trendy outfits from Guess Kids might make your child look like more like a little adult than a true kid, it's refreshing to note that most of the clothes are age-appropriate and won't show off more skin than parents would typically like to see. These clothes don't come cheap, but they are very well made and will generally last for a long time before starting to show signs of wear. It's also important to note that the controversy that gave Guess a bad name in the '90s has been resolved, and the manufacturer no longer uses any sweatshop labor. The brand is certainly more expensive than many other popular lines (almost nothing is priced below $100), but its garments are also much cheaper than clothes from big name designers.
