A classic clothing line for newborns, infants, and toddlers, First Impressions is manufactured for exclusive distribution at Macy's stores. Rowland Hussey Macy first entered the retail trade in the mid 1840s, opening stores in New England that all eventually folded. By 1858, however, the entrepreneur had learned from his earlier mistakes, and he opened R.H. Macy & Co. in New York City. The new venture was a major success, and the store started growing almost immediately. Macy took on new partners before he passed away in 1877. Eventually, the company was acquired by Isidor and Nathan Straus, who spearheaded a move to a new flagship location in New York's Herald Square--still the world's largest store today.

Macy's expansion occurred slowly, with just a few new stores opening in select markets around the country throughout the next century. Still, the company was well known around the world because of the popularity of its locations and its sponsorship of events like the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. In 1994, Macy's merged with Federated Department Stores, and the company acquired May Department Stores in 2005. Suddenly, anchor stores at malls across the country were being rebranded as Macy's locations. Now operating under the name Macy's, Inc., the company owns about 800 stores in the United States. Private label brands like First Impressions are designed to help fill unmet niches among customers and deliver exceptional values.

First Impressions manufactures a wide range of apparel options for boys and girls aged 0-24 months.
