A classic clothing line for newborns, infants, and toddlers, First Impressions is manufactured for exclusive distribution at Macy's stores. Rowland Hussey Macy first entered the retail trade in the mid 1840s, opening stores in New England that all eventually folded. By 1858, however, the entrepreneur had learned from his earlier mistakes, and he opened R.H. Macy & Co. in New York City. The new venture was a major success, and the store started growing almost immediately. Macy took on new partners before he passed away in 1877. Eventually, the company was acquired by Isidor and Nathan Straus, who spearheaded a move to a new flagship location in New York's Herald Square--still the world's largest store today.
Macy's expansion occurred slowly, with just a few new stores opening in select markets around the country throughout the next century. Still, the company was well known around the world because of the popularity of its locations and its sponsorship of events like the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. In 1994, Macy's merged with Federated Department Stores, and the company acquired May Department Stores in 2005. Suddenly, anchor stores at malls across the country were being rebranded as Macy's locations. Now operating under the name Macy's, Inc., the company owns about 800 stores in the United States. Private label brands like First Impressions are designed to help fill unmet niches among customers and deliver exceptional values.
Babies & Kids Merchandise
First Impressions manufactures a wide range of apparel options for boys and girls aged 0-24 months. The brand's Satin Hanger collection is made up of matching outfits that are designed to make shopping for little ones as easy as possible. First Impressions Play, on the other hand, is a more casual line that allows parents to mix and match separate pieces. Sets for boys include options like shirts and pants or overalls, as well as matching bodysuits, sweatpants, and jackets. For girls, you'll find dresses or tunics and leggings that go together, as well as bodysuits that match outerwear.
Bodysuits, coveralls, sunsuits, and creepers are all perfect one-piece outfits for First Impressions' youngest customers. Individual tops for slightly older toddlers include graphic tees, button-down shirts, polos, and tunics. Corduroys, cargo pants, leggings, and jeggings round out the collection's bottoms. Skirts and dresses are popular options for little girls, and you'll also find light outerwear options like sweaters, cardigans, and jackets to pair with them. First Impressions also features several accessories, including hats, scarves, mittens, baby blankets, bibs, and more.
Macy's First Impressions line is one of the retailer's only exclusive brands for babies and toddlers, so it's clear that the company works hard to boost the label's reputation. Quality fabrics and detailing are hallmarks of this collection, but the clothes are also designed to appeal to the sensibilities of little ones. Outfits include bright colors, fun graphics, and trendy takes on traditional styles, so you will love dressing up your newborn, infant, or toddler in these unique garments. Plus, since Macy's has more than 150 years of history behind it, you can be sure that the company is extremely trustworthy. We give First Impressions 4.5 out of 5 stars.
